RE: Birmingham, AL

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. We have made reservations at Birmingham South. We would love to have gone to Tannehill as it looked very interesting but from what I could find out, they do not take reservations. They are first come first served. The lady at Birmingham South was very nice and seemed excited when I told her the reason we were going there. So, we will be in the great state of AL come Labor Day. I just hope the weather cooperates!

RE: Followup to the fatal crash

I noticed on the Dodge site they say that the Durango can tow anywhere from 3000 to 8950 pounds. I tried configuring quite a few combinations (4x2, 4x4 etc) and the most I got was 5900 to 6000 lbs. Which configuration of the Durango provides 8950 lbs of towing ability? I'm sure there is at least one, but it didn't leap out. My condolences to all affected by this accident. We had an 05 Dodge Durango with the Hemi and trailer towing package. Our towing capacity was 8950.

Birmingham, AL

Did a search and came up pretty empty. We are going to be meeting our son from Dallas,TX Labor Day weekend. We are trying to meet him halfway and unfortunately that wound up being Birmingham. Does anyone know of any campgrounds within a 50 or so mile radius of Birmingham that we can meet him? RV park reviews was pretty empty on campgrounds in this area also. Thanks.

RE: 2007 Honda CRV fuse removal

We too took the CRV EX-L/Nav AWD plunge about two weeks ago. Had the Blue Ox base, Stirling All Terain and US Gear brake system installed by San Diego Trailer (no staying power, open 1940's!). Very clean job. We plan to try towing withoug pulling the fuse, as the US Gear provides power to the toad. I will ask the Dealer for some help on how to turn off the Nav, or hit one of the many CRV boards. Hope this works out well.. Best to all, Smitty Err.. how does the US Gear provide power to the toad? Not clear on this...:?

RE: Honda CR-V Toad

We bought ours in Feb. I would not get navigation. We purchased the EXL w/o navi and bought a Garmin Nuvi. What a big difference over in dash! We have had 2 vehicles with in dash and I will not buy another car with navi. Also, we can use it in the coach. It tows like a dream. We also enjoy driving it around town and on trips. Nice little SUV.

RE: Question for those who have had their coaches painted

Hi Clay, Can you tell me who is going to paint your coach and a ball park on the cost? We also have a 02 Journey DL and I have been thinking of getting it painted. Bob We are getting it done locally by Barnes Thanks to all of you that responded. I really still did not get an answer to my question but I will keep digging. On all of our personal vehicles, we do not like to "advertise" for the dealer. However, I feel that the "W" in Winnebago represents something that is not advertising. It represents a quality built vehicle, or so I feel, like all of the Allegro's that I have seen have "Roughing it smoothly" on the back. I also am proud to be Winnebago owner. Just MHO.

Question for those who have had their coaches painted

We are in the final planning stages on getting our coach painted with a full body paint. The question has arisen as to whether we can have the "W" and the Journey DL painted on the motorhome. It seems there may be a copyright infringement. For those who had their coaches painted, did you replace the manufacturer logo or did you have to order decals to be put on? That is what we have been told we will have to do if we want these 2 things back on the coach. I am not personally interested in decals as this is one of the reasons we are having it painted in the first place.

RE: Where to dump in Philly?

Check a local RV dealer. Most have dumping facilities. Stoltzfus RV on 202 in West Chester will probably charge you to dump but if you must, then check with them. I'm like everyone else. Wait to dump on next trip.

Which Step Ladder do you have?

Ok, I did a search and came up empty. Which brand of step ladder do you carry and how tall? Trying to come up with something that will fold up fairly small and not be too heavy. But would still like the standard steps. Do you know what I mean? Thinking about long term here. What material do you have? Aluminum or Fiberglass? Thanks!

Slow....

This website is incredibly slow tonight. I do not have trouble surfing other websites. Why is this? As an addendum, I know there are those of you that it works just fine and I just don't want to get flogged. It's just frustrating when you find an interesting thread only to have it time out when you are trying to read. Go easy on me guys.

RE: Campground suggestion near I95, mid state North Carolina

I would suggest Jordan Lake in Apex, NC. This is just outside Raleigh, and is about 20 to 30 minutes from I 40 (I assume you are taking I 95 to I 40 to get to Myrtle Beach) It is a NC State Park but the camp sites are nice, wooded, and some sit right on the lake, we have been able to fish right from the camp site! One bad point is that they don't take reservations for one night stays. Here is the link to their website to tell you more about the campground. http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/jord/directions.php We have stayed at Poplar Point. The showers leave something to be desired, but for a one night stay are do-able! Good Luck! I think that Jordan Lake is going in the wrong direction and certainly more than 30 minutes off of I-95. I second RV Vacation.

RE: Campgrounds Where they full this long week end

ALL campsites at Jordan Lake State Park here in NC was FULL this weekend. We were lucky to get a spot on Thursday night when we arrived. We cancelled our plans for a long trip and decided to stay close to home. Looks like others did too.

RE: Sell your RV because fuel costs too much

Why would I sell? This makes no sense to me. We will do just what we are doing for Memorial Day weekend. Instead of traveling 125 miles, spending 150+ for fuel round trip, and spending 70 bucks a night for a campsite just because it is Memorial Day weekend, we are going to a State Park travel 25 miles, spend 25 bucks for fuel and 20 bucks a night for a campsite. Go figure. I can still enjoy my coach and be in a much larger campsite. This is something we are going to do a lot this summer.
